Da Nang’s beaches are witnessing a bustling atmosphere with many exciting activities under the Da Nang - Summer Rendezvous 2013 programme, which is taking place from 28 June to 3 July.

Hundreds of employees from the city’s hotels, restaurants and bars, and some students from local universities and colleges, are participating in many interesting competitions at the Eastern Sea Park in the spirit of fair play.  These include cross-country running, a waiter competition, and a triathlon.

In addition, the Art Football Festival Day along with X-games performances featuring patin, mountain biking, skateboarding, parkcour and other sports, are drawing a great deal of attention from local young people.  These games are organised between 4pm and 6pm every day.

30 local fishermen from the seaside wards of Man Thai, Tho Quang, Phuoc My, Xuan Ha and Thanh Khe Tay competed in a coracle race, the first of its kind in this year’s programme.  Organised by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, the competition really thrilled the spectators.

During the 6-day event, a street parade of cyclos and large-capacity motorcycles carrying banners advertising the city’s tourism brand, has become a big draw.  In addition, locals and visitors have been fascinated by arts performances by the city’s arts troupe, a pop band from the Philippines, and the Sachoom dance troupe from South Korea.

In recent days, paramotor races have been held at the Tho Quang Beach with the participation of fliers from Ho Chi Minh City.

At the opening ceremony of the Da Nang Paragliding Competition 2013, which took place last Saturday evening, a flying display of model aircraft was held by the Da Nang Aviation Club.

According to the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year’s programme is expected to have attracted about 10,000 visitors to the local beaches.
